Reference sheets

The things the course asks you to memorise, laid out to be printed. Each sheet fits a page.

The sheet you are given

What is printed on the periodic table supplied with the exam, and where it differs from current reference data. Molar masses across this site use the sheet's values so your answers match the marking.

Rules on the front page

  • Only calculators are acceptable for use during an examination.
  • To receive full credit, all work — and correct significant figures and units — must be shown.
  • The exam is worth 100 points. Questions run from page 2 to page 7.
  • Points available are shown in brackets beside each question.

Group labels as printed

The supplied table uses Roman numerals with A and B, not the 1–18 numbering. For a main-group element the Roman numeral is also its valence electron count.

Where the sheet differs from current values

22 elements. None of them are common in chapters 1 to 5, but the sheet's value is the one that produces the marked answer.

Worked example

PCl₅ comes to 208.239 on the sheet and 208.224 on current values. The course deck gives 208.239, so that is what this site computes.
